ULTURAL ACCOMMODATION IN LEARNING AND TEACHING THE NORWEGIAN LANGUAGE IN CLUJ-NAPOCA

This paper has been presented at the Fourth international conference on Baltic and Nordic Studies in Romania Empire-building and Region-building in the Baltic, North and Black sea areas hosted by the Romanian Association for Baltic and Nordic Studies and Ovidius University of Constanta, May 24-26, 2013. This paper intends to focus on the role of socio-cultural accommodation and cultural awareness in relation to both learning and teaching the Norwegian language. A research has been conducted in order to investigate the would-be teachers’ points of view regarding the appropriateness of teaching Norwegian by focusing on enhancing both cultural and linguistic elements. The would-be teachers enrolled in an initial teacher training program have proven to be aware of the intricate links that exist between language and culture. They have understood that Norwegian cannot be taught without taking into consideration its cultural elements.
Acest studiu î?i propune să pună accentul pe relevan?a integrării aspectelor socio-culturale ?i a con?tientizării culturale în contextul predării ?i învă?ării limbii norvegiene. Cercetarea realizată a avut ca scop identificarea perspectivei pe care studen?ii care participă la programul de formare ini?ială?i-au format-o cu privire la relevan?a predării limbii norvegiene dintr-o perspectivă care sus?ine utilizarea integrată a culturii ?i a limbii. Studen?ii care sunt înregistra?i în cadrul programului de formare ini?ială au dovedit faptul că sunt con?tien?i de conexiunile existente între limbă?i cultură. Ace?tia au în?elesfaptul că limba norvegiană nu poate să fie predată fără a lua în considerare elementele culturale care se regăsesc în limbă.

INTENSIVE LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE SUMMER COURSE
Starting: in groups: from 1st to 13th of August. Individually courses are held all summer.
Duration of the course: The Course runs for 4-6 academic hours per day, with Language practice for 44 hours and Lithuanian history, literature and ethnology for 6 hours.
Languages of instruction: English, Russian, French, Italian, Lithuanian.
Place: in the center of Vilnius – Gediminas ave. 26.
Certification: students will receive a Lithuanian language Summer Course Certificate.
Separate groups for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students are planned.
During the courses various cultural program are planned: excursions in Lithuania, degustation of traditional Lithuanian dishes, ethno cultural events, visiting some museums, creative workshops with famous Lithuanian artists.

LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE SUMMER COURSE FOR CHILDREN
Time: 1-12 of August, in groups. All summer indivual courses takes place.
Starting: in group on August 1-12. Individual courses are held all summer.
Duration: 20 acad. hours (10 days, 2 acad. hours per day).
Explaining languages: English, Russian, Lithuanian.
Place: Gediminas ave. 26, Vilnius.
Certificate: at the end of the course every participant will get the LINGUA LITUANICA certificate.
Classes take place in small groups.
On Saturdays it is possible to go to excursions with parents.
